What does Sheet Sync do? ▼
It keeps a range in one spreadsheet automatically in sync — in both directions — with a range on another spreadsheet. Edit either side, the other updates. Use Manage Links to link a range and Sync Mode to choose how that sync happens.
How do I link two spreadsheets? ▼
Select the range you want to link, open Manage Links → Add link, and either paste the target spreadsheet's ID or use Browse… to pick it. The target range must have the same number of rows and columns as your selection.
Does the add-on need to be installed on both spreadsheets? ▼
Yes — Sheet Sync must be installed on every spreadsheet in the link, both source and target. You also need edit access on both, using the same Google account. Without that, syncing to (or from) that spreadsheet will fail.
Can one range sync to more than one other spreadsheet? ▼
Yes — the exact same range can be linked to several different targets at once (a “hub” setup). Editing it syncs to all of them. What you can't do is link two different, overlapping ranges to different targets — that's blocked to prevent two spreadsheets that were never directly linked from silently affecting each other through a shared cell.
What counts as one “link”? ▼
One connection between a source range and a target range, created once via Manage Links → Add link. Even though sync is bidirectional (edits flow both ways), that's still one link, not two. It counts against whoever created it, added up across all their spreadsheets — not per spreadsheet.
What's the difference between Auto, Manual, and Scheduled? ▼
- Auto — every edit syncs immediately. The default.
- Manual — nothing syncs automatically. Use the Sync now menu item whenever you want to push your current values out.
- Scheduled — syncs automatically on a fixed interval (hourly up to once a day) instead of on every edit.
Sync mode applies to the whole spreadsheet, not to individual links.
Does “Sync now” only work in Manual mode? ▼
No — it works regardless of the current mode. In Auto or Scheduled mode it's just a harmless extra push; in Manual mode it's how you sync at all.
A link shows a warning in Saved Links — what does that mean? ▼
The target spreadsheet couldn't be found or is no longer accessible (deleted, or sharing access revoked). Sync to that link fails silently until it's fixed — either restore access, or remove the link.
I've reached my link limit — what now? ▼
Your plan has a maximum number of links. Check the Account tab in Manage Links for your current usage and upgrade options.
My trial or plan ran out and I have more links than my new limit allows — what happens to them? ▼
Nothing gets deleted. Links over your new limit are paused, not removed — they stop syncing but stay visible in Saved links with an “Upgrade to resume” prompt. Your oldest link (by creation date) stays active; newer ones pause first. Upgrading reactivates paused links immediately, oldest first, exactly as they were.
How do I upgrade or buy more links? ▼
Open Manage Links → Account, pick a plan under Subscription, and complete checkout in the tab that opens. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see your card details.
How does a Team plan work? ▼
One subscription covers everyone on your organization's email domain. Whoever purchases it picks the links-per-seat allowance; teammates on the same domain get a seat automatically the first time they open Sheet Sync. The purchaser can add or remove specific teammates from the Team seats panel on the Account tab.
Can I give up my Team seat myself? ▼
Yes — on the Account tab, click Give up my seat. No admin involvement needed. Getting a seat back afterwards does require the domain purchaser to re-add you from the Team seats panel — it's not automatic just by reopening Sheet Sync again.
Why does Sheet Sync cost more than a simple add-on? ▼
Sheet Sync syncs data live between multiple spreadsheets through a backend server (Firestore + Cloud Functions) — every sync costs server-side processing, unlike add-ons that do everything locally inside your sheet. That infrastructure is what makes automatic and scheduled sync possible, even while your sheet isn't open.
